Zac Brokenrope discusses how he survived bullying and an attempted suicide in his home state of Nebraska and then found a new life and supportive community at Boston University.

Zac’s Story is part of LGBTQ Voices, a series created for BU Today, Boston University’s official news site. With hate crimes on the rise, BU students, faculty and staff of the LGBTQ community shared their personal journeys in the hope of preventing suicides and decreasing incidents of bullying. LGBTQ Voices was inspired by the It Gets Better Project.
